AN enraged farmer in Chililabombwe beat his wife to death after a domestic dispute.

The man fled after the incident , which happened on Sunday around 19:00 hours, but was captured yesterday in the morning.

Copperbelt Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi, said the suspect only identified as Mulenga of Miteta farms in Luamfula area ran away after the murder but was later apprehended.

“We received a report of murder which occurred on April 4, 2021 around 19:00 hours at Miteta Farms, Luamfula Area in Chililabombwe District, in which Charles Chanda reported that, his sister Veronica Chanda ,27, also of Miteta Farms, was beaten by her husband only known as Mulenga, during a domestic dispute,” he said.

Mr Chishi explained that the women sustained multiple injuries on her face and was rushed to Kakoso Level One Hospital, in an unconscious state and unfortunately, died upon arrival.

He said the suspect allegedly used a piece of concrete block to inflict the injuries.

He said the suspect was apprehended in the farming area and would be charged with murder.
