The Choma Magistrates Court has committed a 26 years old Light Truck Driver to the High Court to answer to accusations of causing death by reckless driving.

Sunny Chigabwa of Choma’s Kamunza Township appeared before Court charge with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving contrary to the Road Transport and Safety Act of the Laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that Chigabwa on November 30, 2020 in Choma whilst driving a Hino Ranger bearing Registration Number BAJ 2620 along the Great North Road caused the death of Milimo Shimwenya.

It is further alleged that at the time of the incident, Chigabwa was driving the vehicle in a manner dangerous to other road users and the public.

When he appeared for explanation of the charge before Court, he understood the charge read to him.

Principal Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo committed him to the High Court after she received the certificate of committal from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution through Public Prosecutor Charles Chinzai on his first Court appearance after the tragic incident.
