CALL it a rare combination, but music sounds twice better when two artistes of different genres merge.

This is what one gets from  the latest collaboration between hip hop star Slapdee and one authentic and prolific songstress Yvonne Mwale.

The two are dropping a single called,  “Uka Ukalilele?” expected to raise the bar for Zambian Hip-Hop even higher.

With their new song ‘Uka Ukalilele?’ which is already attracting massive attention, Yvonne Mwale and Slapdee are addressing a sensitive issue, that has a deep impact on our society. ‘Uka Ukalilele?’ which means ‘Wake up, Are you still sleeping?’ is indeed a wake-up call, that can’t be ignored.

“ While at most places in the world women are getting up to take their lives in their own hands and get empowered to become more independent, especially in Zambia, we still have a problem with young ladies that never managed to get a job or learnt how to take care of themselves. Instead, we see them hanging out at night in clubs and bars, hunting aged men that should secure them their survival,” reads a statement to explain the song.

Yvonne says with this song, she wants to make a statement and encourage young ladies to become responsible for themselves and do something productive for their future.

“ And I’m grateful, that Slapdee is sharing this view with me and agreed to join on this track”.

Yvonne Mwale recently made waves with her collaboration with Mic Burner, called ’Ne Nganga’. The track hit the Zambian radio charts and became successful. She is hopeful this new collaboration will also achieve as much as ‘ Ne Nganga.’

“Uka Ukalilele?” is available on mvesesani.com now and on Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, Boomplay and about 150 other music platforms around the world by Friday, 12th of February.
