MONZE Town Council has urged all the councillors to embark on information dissemination on the second wave of covid-19

Council Secretary, Pythias Samakonga, said that the second wave of Covid-19 is deadly and spreading at a fast rate.

Therefore, Mr Samakonga said, civic leaders should go flat out and sensitize the people in their respective communities on the need to adhere to health guidelines.

“I am sure this information has been disseminated to all the wards in Monze district. Secondly, as a local authority, we have engaged government institutions, markets, schools in disinfecting their premises while announcing to mask up, observing social distancing, washing hands, sanitizing and avoiding unnecessary movements.

“I would like to inform the general public that starting from Monday next week, we are going round the townships to ensure we publicize this same information concerning the pandemic,” he said.

Mr Samakonga complained that there was still laxity among citizens in terms of adhering to the health guidelines.

The Monze Town Council Secretary stated that some people were still visiting public places such as markets without wearing face masks.
