The Choma Magistrates Court has sentenced a man in his late 30s to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a Shovel and 11 empty containers.

Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa convicted Harrington Kayuni in his own admission for the offence of Theft.

Particulars of the offence are that Kayuni stole 11×40 litres Containers and one Shovel all valued at K 1,175 the property of Fred Mudenda.

This happened on December 21, 2020 in old Kabanana Township of Choma district.

When he appeared before Court for Facts, he admitted that the statement read by Public Prosecutor Dexter Kwalela was a true reflection of what happened except for the Shovel which he denied stealing.

Magistrate Munukayumbwa amended the charge sheet but still convicted him in his own admission for stealing the Containers.

Despite pleading that he has a disabled child and his wife was pregnant, the Court slapped him with 9 months imprisonment term with hard labour, bust suspended the sentence for 12 months in which he is not to commit any offence.
