DEFAINT BAR OWNERS WARNED

THE Kitwe City Council has warned of stern action bars and night clubs owners who have continued holding live shows at their premises amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the council, many drinking places in the city were going against the prescribed guidelines.
Council Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, told the Daily Nation that the local authority was working tirelessly to ensure that such places adhered to the health guidelines.
“We are surprised to note that some bars and night clubs are still inviting live shows, a thing that was discouraged during this period,” she said.
Ms Mwamba explained that inviting live shows attracted a huge crowd, thereby defying the social distancing rule.
She said that the council would continue inspecting such premises to ensure that there was compliance. She called on members of the public to report any bars and night clubs that would be carrying out live shows amidst the pandemic.
