Serenje police hold fisherman with ‘black magic’

POLICE in Serenje district of Central province are holding a 30-year-old fisherman after he was found with suspected human body parts.

Central Province Police Commissioner Chola Katanga confirmed the bizarre incident in Kabwe and named the suspect as Peter Shilika of Laisi village in Chief Chitambo’sarea.

He said the suspect is alleged to have exhumed a dead body from the graveyard after seeking wealth charms from a traditional healer.

Mr. Katanga disclosed that the incident took place on 12 July 2020, at the graveyard around 23:00 hours.

The regional Police Chief explained that the human parts that were found with the suspect include nine bones and human hair.

According to Mr. Katanga, members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) are reported to have apprehended two more suspects in connection with the strange incident while the other one escaped the dragnet.

The police are now investigating the matter further.
