We finally have a return date for the Premier League: Unrealistic target?

The La Liga and the Bundesliga have already revealed dates of their return and now fans are eagerly waiting for the same announcement from the English Premier League.

Over the past couple of weeks, the EPL authorities have been trying hard to full-proof a plan for the restart of the 2019-20 season and this ‘Project Restart’ is now the most talked-about topic within the English footballing scene.

A couple of weeks ago, there had been rumours that the Premier League was aiming a return sometime during the start of June and now as per The Telegraph, the United Kingdom government has put forward an official date.

When will the Premier League resume?

As per The Telegraph, the UK government plans to allow all sporting events, including the Premier League to resume from June 12th on the condition that these tournaments follow all the necessary safety protocols.

The report claims: “The Premier League has been given a huge boost with Government sources confirming that plans are on track for professional sports to return in June.

“On Monday the Prime Minister will reveal in Parliament further details of his roadmap to get out of lockdown, with a government paper on elite sports expected to be published on Tuesday.

“These will give the green light for professional sports to return next month, including the Premier League’s planned resumption on June 12, subject to safety conditions being met and infection rates not rising.”

This date is still not final since before the EPL season can resume all the teams will have test their players and their staff members thoroughly so they can isolate all the people who are infected.

But for now, at least all the fans know of a certain date by which they will be able to see their favourite teams back in action.

Apart from the Premier League, all the other countries in Europe have decided the fate of their own domestic tournaments, some of which are as follows:

Bundesliga: Officially returning on May 16.

Ligue 1:      2019-20 season cancelled.

La Liga:      Officially set to return in mid-June.

EPL:            Possibly returning on June 12.

Champions League: Possibly returning on August 7.
