A LION has killed a 21-year-old man in Mfuwe of Eastern Province consuming half of his body Police spokesperson Easter Katongo has said.
Ms Katongo said the incident happened on May 5 around 12:00 hours when the victim Anthony Chibulu of Smart Village, Chief Kakumbi of Mambwe District was attacked and killed.
In a statement, Ms Katongo said the remains of the victim were taken to Kamoto Hospital mortuary and that the matter had been brought to the attention of the Wildlife Authorizes.
Meanwhile, in another development Ms Katongo said Police in Namwala District of Southern Province are looking for HachikuyuMoonga, 35 of Hanombe Village, Chief Nalubamba in connection with the murder of his uncle.
Ms Katongo identified the victim who was murdered as Patient Moonga aged 60 and that the incident happened on May 4 around 19:00 hours after the victim was suspected to have been behind the burning of the suspect’s house.
“The victim sustained a fractured left leg, a deep cut on the right leg and on the forehead and it is alleged that a stick was used in the act.
“The body has been deposited in Namwala District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” she said.
Ms Katongo said the suspect was on the run and police had launched investigations and that the stick used in the act has been recovered.
She appealed to the public with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to report to any nearest police.
