Aggravated robbery case awaits High Court date

THREE men appeared before the Choma Magistrates Court for explanation of the charge of Aggravated Robbery where they are accused of stealing a Battery and Diesel.

The Court then explained to them that the offence they’re charged with is only triable before the High Court and such they will continue to appear before the Subordinates Court until instructions are received from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution’s.

Pitman Nawa 32, Aubrey Moota 26 both unemployed and residents of Choma’s Mwapona Township and Nchiminya Nsemu 36 an electrician of Batoka are jointly charged with Aggravated Robbery contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that the trio jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown stole 1 battery and 75 litres of Diesel all together valued at K2,169 the property of IHS company from Austin Kayuni.

It is further alleged that the three immediately before or after stealing threatened or used actual violence on Austin Kayuni in order to obtain or retain the things stolen.

When the three appeared for explanation of the charge before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, they all understood the charge read to them.

The matter was adjourned to 8 May for mention and possible committal.

The three were remanded in custody.
