A PRIVATE prospective investor has expressed interest to startup businesses in Samfya and Milenge districts of Luapula Province.

Samfya Town Council spokesperson Gwendoline Muchenga said in a statement that Multiple Keyz Limited of Ndola has shown willingness to invest in the Tourism and Agriculture sectors by putting up a Pleasure Resort and venture into fish farming (fish cages).

She said that the mnvestor would also put up a Milling Plant in Milenge district.

Company Chairperson Yusuf Mohamed led by Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Royd Mwape Chakaba revealed that his firm had an expression of interest to participate in Luapula developmental agenda by developing a 600 meters shoreline of Lake Bangweulu.

And Mr. Chakaba who is also Luapula Investment Committee Chairperson highlighted a number of investment profiles in key economic growth sectors for the Province advised the Investor to work closely with the local authority as they were coming in as an Investor .

The Deputy PS further advised the Investor to seek the intervention of his office whenever faced with any challenges saying Samfya was a champion of expo and the district means serious business.

And Council Secretary Laura Yumba Munkanta welcomed the investor’s expression to invest in the district but stated that the Local authority has run out of land within the township boundary to carter for the required space but assured the investor that the Local Authority would find any possible means also by engaging the Traditional Leaders to find suitable land to pave way for investment.

Mrs Munkanta however urged the Investor to quickly move in and put up investment within the shortest time once land is offered to them and not to abandon it as the authority has in the past experienced situations where Investors had been given land to develop but instead went quite.

Council Chairperson Francis Musunga said the Local authority was eager to work with the Investor, but they have to be realistic about their interest in bringing development to the district by putting the land into good use in a way that would create employment opportunities and ultimately lead to improved standards of living for the local people.
