CAPITAL Buses operations manager Arnold Zulu yesterday pleaded guilty to practicing sexual acts with a fellow man.

However, the Lusaka Magistrate court entered an equivocal plea after hearing his explanation which did not amount to the offence before court.

This is in a case in which Zulu, 38, a Flash bus manager of Millennium Bus Station and Adrian Mazuba, 21, unemployed of Kanyama Site and Service are charged with indecent practices between males contrary to Section 158 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that on August 22, the two committed an act of gross indecency which happened between 14:00hours and 17:00hours in Zulu’s house.

When the matter came up before Chief Resident Magistrate Lameck Mwale, Zulu pleaded guilty while Mazuba denied the charge.

When asked what indecent act committed for police to apprehend him, Zulu explained that police found Mazuba on his bed as he was showing him his penis.

“Police found Mazuba on my bed showing me his penis after he had it circumcised.

He was showing me because he came to ask for money from me,” he said.

And when asked what relationship he had with Mazuba, Zulu said he came to know him when his grandfather was knocked down by a vehicle.

At this point the court entered a plea of not guilty because his explanation did not show that he was guilty. The two accused persons then applied for bail pending trial.

Magistrate Mwale granted them bail in the sum of K25, 000 each in their own recognizance with two working sureties bound in the like sum.

The matter comes up on October 30 for trial. Mazuba and Zulu were remanded in custody.

According to reports, Zulu and Mazuba were arrested after he was found in the sexual act by alert workmates in the evening at his residency within the bus station.

According to Zambia Police acting spokesperson Danny Mwale, said the duo were arrested after a tip off from members of public.

Mr Mwale said acting on information received from members of the public, Police officers rushed to the scene and found the two in Zulu’s house in the act.

He said Mazuba was later taken for medical examination.
