POLICE in Lusaka have arrested six people for obtaining money by false pretence after they swindled 250 job seekers from different parts of Zambia whom they promised jobs.
Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo, said 250 job seekers from different parts of Zambia were swindled K175 each by an employment agency called Daso Employment Agents, based in Kaunda Square Stage One Township, and whose director is Official Nalishuwa.
“On 4th September, 2019 we received information of a case of obtaining money by false pretence, in which 250 job seekers from different parts of Zambia were swindled K175 each by an employment agency in which Official Nalishiwa of no fixed abode is said to be the director of the company called Daso Employment Agents,” she said.
“The man employed 6 workers, namely females Catherine Mwanjelwa, Rehena Jafari, Easter Chanda, Lucy Mapili and males William Tembo, Matongo sibawa. The some were involved in receiving cash and interviewing those to be employed,” Ms Katongo said.
“Upon been accepted, they were promised to go to Livingstone for a workshop for 7 days. This occurred between July 7 2019 in Kaunda Square Stage One Market, shop No.17. Dockets have been opened and the named six workers are in custody helping with investigations, “she said.
