LUSAKA MAN DOCKED FOR TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA

RABECCA BANDA writes

A LUSAKA man has pleaded guilty to a charge of trafficking in 1.8 grams of marijuana in the Lusaka Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that Julius Kumwenda,23, of Lilanda Township trafficked in psychotropic substances contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Kumwenda admitted before Magistrate Alice Walusiku trafficking in marijuana.

He told the court that he knew it was illegal to traffic psychotropic substances like marijuana.

Kumwenda said he was found with 1.8 grams of the drug and it belonged to him.

“I kept the drug in the pocket of my trousers because I wanted to smoke,” he said.

The matter will come up for continued hearing on September 5.
