TWO-GOAL hero in Wednesday’s Zambia Under-23 AfCON qualifier tie against Congo Brazzaville, Fashion Sakala says the victory was not about him but as a result of team work.

Sakala told the Sun sport during a post-match interview that as a striker it was not unexpected to miss some opportunities as it was part of the game.

He said he would continue improving his game and ensure that he made use of opportunities.

Sakala said that he did not have to count his missed opportunities but that what mattered to him were the two goals he scored with the help of his team mates as football was a team sport.

He said that the team would continue working hard and ensure that it qualified to the 2019 AfCON Under-23 tournament in Egypt because millions of Zambians were expectant of the team.

“As a player I am not supposed to think about what I missed but what I scored. I just have to stay focused,

“We have the next game and millions of Zambians are expecting a lot from us. When you talk about missing chances, it is part of the game, but as a player I just have to keep on working and scoring if possible. We thank God that he has given us victory,” he said.

He said that he was looking forward to the second leg encounter in Pointe Noire.

“I am looking forward to the second leg, I hope we will qualify for the Egypt AfCON,” he said.

Zambia carries a 2-1 lead going into the second leg of the final round qualifier for the Egypt 2019 AfCON in November.

Top three teams at the AfCON will qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Junior Chipolopolo leaves for Congo Brazzaville today to take on that country’s national team on Sunday in the second leg qualifier.
