I HAD TO INTERVENE TO AVOID FURTHER PROTESTS SAYS LUSAMBO

Lusaka Province Minister Hon Bowman Lusambo says he had to intervene during yesterday protests by the University of Zambia Students in order to avoid further protests.

And Hon Lusambo has assured Lusaka residents and the business community that calm has returned to the Capital City.

In a statement to Smart Eagles, Wednesday, Hon Lusambo reiterates that, “as much as the students needed to express their grievances, government does not support destruction of public or private property.”

And Minister Lusambo has denounced the acts of xenophobia targeted at foreign nationals in South Africa.

“As Lusaka Province Minister, I had to intervene to ensure that our students returned to the lecture theaters and avoid further protests. I wish to assure Lusaka residents and the business community that calm has now returned to the Capital City,” said Hon Lusambo.
