THE father of an 11-year-old boy Felix Mwilambwe who was stabbed to death with a knife in Kanyama Township is saddened that the police have set free the two suspects allegedly involved in the killing of his son.

But Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said that the two suspects were released two weeks ago because after investigations it was established that they were not connected to the case.

“The matter is being handled by Kanyama main police and we had the two suspects who were initially apprehended, released because there was no connection that the two were involved in the murder case after investigations.

“It was established that they were not connected to the attack so we could not keep them in detention, it’s against the law,” she said.

Ms Katonga said there was a suspect who was reported to have stabbed the boy with a knife who was on the run and that police were still looking for him and that the matter was still under investigation.

However Mr Emil Mwilambwe expressed displeasure that the police at Kanyama police had decided to set free the two suspects who were allegedly involved in the murder case because they think they were not the ones who stabbed his son to death with a knife.

In an interview with the Sun, Mr Mwilambwe said his older brother Edward Ng’ombe made a follow up on the matter with Kanyama police and he was told that according to the postmortem Felix died because he was stabbed with a knife.

Mr Mwilambwe explained that police said the two suspects did not have a case to answer but the one who stabbed the boy was still on the run.

“My older brother made a follow up on the matter last week Friday at Kanyama police because the police officers at Los Angeles Police were delaying in finding the killer of my son.

“He was told that they followed the results of the post mortem and the report indicated that my son died because he had been stabbed with a knife,” he said.

Mr Mwilambwe said the police decided to let the two suspects go because they were

of them just confessed that he only hit him with a plank on the head, and Felix fell down.

He said the police advised them that if they were to continue with the matter they had to find the person who killed him with the knife and the two would be witnesses in the matter.
