A PEASANT farmer in Choma has denied defiling a 13 years old girl but has admitted giving her K15 after she threatened to report him to her father.

This is in a case in which Portipher Malaiti, 24, of Sikalongo Village is appearing in the Choma Fast Track and User Friendly Court for defilement.

Particulars of the offence are that, Malaiti on July 24,  in Choma, had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl believed to be below the age of 16.

When the matter came up for plea before Senior Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo, the accused understood and admitted the charge.

The Court then explained to him the gravity of the offence committed and defences he could use such as if he believed the girl was above 16 in stature.

The Court then read the charge to him again but he still admitted and said the two were in the process of having sex when the girl said she would report him to her father before he gave a K15.

The Court was then compelled to enter a plea of not guilty after his explanation.

The matter comes up today for trial.
