ZANACO’S Namibian international defender Tiberius Lombard says his ambitions are to help his new club win the league and do well in the CAF Confederations Cup this season.

Lombard who joined Zanaco from Lusaka Dynamos said he would work hard to add value to the club as it competes in both the local league and the CAF Confederations Cup.

He told the club’s media office that he joined the bankers to add prowess to its defensive frailties.

“I joined Zanaco FC to come and add value to the team more especially in the defence.

“My expectations for the club are that we will win the league and do well in the continental competition, hopefully to reach the finals because that is why I came here, to add value and wear silver medals,” he said.

He was happy being a Zanaco player which was a stepping stone for him.

“I am very happy to be with Zanaco but I am working very hard so that I can achieve my dream of playing for a big club overseas,” he said.

He said that Zanaco was ready for the new season having beaten Zesco United 1-0 to bank the 2019 Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield.

“The 2019 Charity Shield fixture against Zesco United was tough but we managed to win. I think that just shows the public how ready and organized we are as a team ahead of the new season,” he said.

Zanaco will again face Zesco in its league opener set for August 31 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Lombard has also been called by the Namibia Football Association to be part of the squad that will play Eritrea on the 4 and 10 of September in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
