ZAMBIA’S envoys in the CAF competitions Zesco FC and Green Eagles have won praise from (FAZ for their performance in their preliminary games.
FAZ congratulated the two teams which took part in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The association particularly congratulated Zesco United and Green Eagles for progressing to the next round.
Zesco defeated Green Mambas of eSwatini 3-0 on aggregate while Green Eagles overcame Orlando Pirates 2-1 over two legs to progress to the next round.
General Secretary Adrian Kashala told the Sun sport in a statement that FAZ was proud of the performance of the clubs.
Kashala said first timers Buildcon who crashed out after suffering a 2-1 aggregate loss to Young Buffaloes should pick lessons from their debut experience.
“We are very happy with the performance of our clubs that took part in the preliminary round. It is important that we keep performing very well to maintain our superior ranking on the continent,
“In the case of Zesco United and Green Eagles we wish them all the best in the next round where they will be joined by Zanaco,” Kashala said.
Zesco will face Tanzania’s Young Africans while Eagles Premiro de Agosto of Angola.
The bankers will wait for the winner between Jwaneng Galaxy FC of Botswana and Bolton City of Mauritius who are in action this Sunday. Bolton City won the first leg 3-1 in Mauritius.
The Zambian league is ranked sixth in Africa by CAF and is entitled to four continental slots.
