POLICE in Kaoma district have reportedly apprehended a man who allegedly defiled his six-year old granddaughter leaving her hospitalized with complications.
Acting Police spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the arrest of Webby Nyambe 67 who was apprehended on Monday at around 19:00 hours after Western Province Commissioner of police Charles Lungu directed his officers to launch a manhunt.
Mr Mwale said Nyambe was in police custody and will appear in court soon.
In an interview with the Sun, the mother of the victim Monde Lifumbo who also confirmed the nabbing of Nyambe, said all she she wanted was to see justice prevail over the her child.
“The man who defiled my daughter was apprehended by the police on Monday around 19:00hrs at his home.
“And we are still in hospital. My daughter is in pain right now. I do not really know what the problem is. She is just crying and the doctors are not telling us why the girl is in pain,” she said.
The child was defiled on unknown dates and was warned not to tell anyone so that she could not be killed.
The child complained of pain, excessive bleeding from her private parts and failing to walk properly.
