STRAY LION THREATENS CHARCOAL BURNERS

LILLIAN CHIKANDI writes

A STRAY lion in Chirundu’s Lusitu ward is threatening the activities of charcoal burners, says area councillor Fund Chipembere.

Mr Chipembere said the lion which was spotted in Mutolang’anga village has since killed two head of cattle.

He however called for calmness among the villagers as the presence of the beast had already been reported to the department of national parks and wildlife.

Mr Chipembere has since advised the people in the ward to move in groups as they conducted their activities in the forests.

Meanwhile a resident of Chirundu central ward Mr Sebastian Mayabbu has challenged Chirundu Forum activist and consultant Mr Kawana Mwangala to clearly state the objectives of his body to the people.

Mr Mayabbu said that Mr Mwangala and his colleagues had on several occasions uttered sentiments which had been perceived by some people as political.

He charged that Mr Mwangala pledged to supplement resources in ensuring that the Ibbwemunyama Road was worked but has gone mute following the council chairman Mr Robison Sianduba’s statement that the plans to work on the same road had already reached an advanced stage.

Mr Mayabbu castigated Mr Mwangala saying retrogressive for him to continue condemning the area member of parliament Mr Douglas Syakalima and questioning his responsibilities.

Meanwhile Mwangala has maintained that the forum was non-partisan and only offering the checks and balances to various leaders in the district and saw nothing wrong to criticize Mr Syakalima for not performing very well in delivering development to the people of Chirundu district.

He charged that the MP has not been available to the people since 2016 and wondered why he had now started touring the rural parts of district.
