SENSATIONAL Zanaco’s win against rivals ZESCO United in last Saturday’s Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield finals played at Woodlands stadium has excited Coach Numba Mumamba.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, Mumamba said that it was exciting to beat a formidable side like Zesco United in a final.

Mumamba said that his team controlled most parts of the game and that it looked more composed than their opponents.

The Bankers coach paid glowing tribute to his defenders for the solid display and keeping United’s striking force at bay.

He said the charity shield final was a motivation ahead of the new Super League season scheduled to kick off on August 31.

“It’s a good thing that we have won today. I think the defense stood strong in this game,

“We are very happy with the performance of everyone. I hope we can maintain the same, it’s good on our part to start with a victory. This is good motivation as we prepare for the start of the coming season,” he said.

The Former Zambia national team striker said that his technical bench was observant of the mistakes made by his squad and promised to work on the backline so that they avoided conceding many of goals in the upcoming season.

The Bankers won their first Charity Shield since 2006, courtesy of Ziyo Tembo header in the first half to add a fourth Shield to their trophy cabinet.

And Mumamba said that the victory would inspire his side to challenge for the title this season having missed out on winning the Super League in the past three seasons.

Zanaco will again meet Zesco at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on August 31 in the league opener.
