MINISTER of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga says he is set to reconcile Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga and his predecessor Kalusha Bwalya.
Mulenga said to unify the soccer fraternity, he had had separate meetings with Kamanga and Bwalya.
He said both of them had shown willingness to work together for the development of the game.
Mulenga said sports unified people regardless of their political affiliation.
He said in the interest of unity, it was important that all stakeholders work together for the common good.
“Two weeks ago I, as the new Minister of Youth and Sport, met with the current Football Association of Zambia president Andrew Kamanga and we discussed at length ways of improving our sport and relationship with stakeholders,” Mulenga said.
“Today, (Saturday) on my way to Morocco, I made a four-hour stop-over in South Africa where I met our football legend, Kalusha Bwalya, and as usual we discussed a lot to improve our football,” he said.
Of particular interest during the meeting with Kamanga weeks ago, the FAZ boss had pledged to work with everyone, including Kalusha.
“During my meeting today in South Africa, Kalusha Bwalya has also agreed to work with Mr Kamanga for the good of the game and the country,” Mulenga said.
The two had agreed to reconcile their differences and work for the good of the country.
Mulenga said in the next 10 days, he would hold a meeting with Kamanga and Kalusha in Lusaka.
He said he was looking to discuss the future of Zambian football and other sporting disciplines and the reconciliation process of the two administrators.
Mulenga said as minister in charge of Sports, it has made him happy that the differences between the two would come to an end.
