SENSATIONAL Zanaco will this afternoon aim to avenge last season’s humiliating defeats at the hands of rivals Zesco United when the two sides meet in this year’s Samuel ‘’Zoom” Ndhlovu Charity Shield to be played at the Woodlands Stadium.
In seeking to avenge the two humiliating defeats, bankers trainer Numba Mumamba has named a strong squad that will also see seven new players making a debut for the team
The squad comprises of 11 old players and 7 newcomers with legend and former captain Ziyo Tembo making a return move to Zanaco after a one-year absence.
Ziyo has made the squad and will be expected to lead the defence line against the defending champions.
Other new players named in the squad are Belchance Makiese, Kebson Kamanga, Tiberius Lombard, Mwansa Nsofwa and Lassa Kiala.
Former Power Dynamos defender Lawrence Chungu will also be making his long awaited debut for the Bankers having joined the team mid last season.
Another new comer Jimmy Nakena also made it to the squad released by coach Mumamba after Friday afternoon training session at Sunset Stadium.
The Bankers will however be without goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata and striker Martin Phiri who have been left out of the team despite being fully fit and available for selection.
New signee Emmanuel Okutu will also miss the Charity match as he was still nursing an injury picked up during the pre-season friendly against ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers.
Zesco humbled Zanaco in the finals of the Barclays cup 4-1 after having earlier beaten the bankers by a similar score-line at Sunset stadium in a second leg league match.
