THE Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) has described the recently concluded sports teachers’ workshop as objective.
The Teachers PE & Sports workshop Foundation Level which was being conducted at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre came to a close on Thursday with over 20 teachers going back to their respective institutions with certificates.
National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) secretary general Boniface Kambikambi, and OYDC Zambia chief executive officer Fred Chitangala, congratulated the teachers for having successfully participated in the three-day training.
Kambikambi who presented certificates with Chitangala said that OYDC Zambia planned to host another workshop before the year ended and appealed to those who wished to attend to contact management at the multisport facility.
He expressed happiness that the workshop looked at different topics which included fundamentals and principles of physical education and designing programme for children.
He said other topics covered included introduction to safe sport, ethics in sport, managing the health of athletes, understanding the Zambia physical education curriculum and many other sport related subjects.
Meanwhile, Chitangala paid tribute facilitators from University of Zambia, FAZ, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development, NOCZ, and Zambia Amateur Athletics Association.
Other facilitators of the workshop included Zambia Volleyball Association (ZVA), Zambia Basketball Association (ZBS), and the Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ).
Chitangala said it was the dedication of the conveners many others who ensured that the workshop was a success and worth attending.
Earlier this month OYDC conducted holiday tuition for school children aimed at sports development and talent identification.
