PRESIDENTIAL SOLAR MILLING PLANT INITIATIVE CREATES 6,000 JOBS

SUN BUSINESS REPORTER writes

ABOUT 6,000 jobs have been created under the Presidential Solar Milling Plant Initiative which was rolled out in 2015, says Zambia Cooperative Federation (ZCF) director-general James Chirwa.

Mr Chirwa said more youths would be employed as the installation of the milling plants progressed.

He said that the project was meeting its intended purpose of providing cheaper mealie-meal and creating employment for the citizenry.

He said that the federation had so far installed 1,600 milling plants countrywide, out of the planned 2,000.

Mr. Chirwa said ZCF was aware of some milling plants that were not functioning well saying the federation was working round the clock to resuscitate them.
