WORKS on the Kansanshi stadium which will be home of Kansanshi Dynamos have started ahead of the Zambia super league which begins on August 31.
Dynamos were recently promoted to the super league and have since embarked on the construction of a stadium that will comprise a dressing room, a VIP car park, new security wire and improved playing surface.
According to a statement from the club media office, the project was expected to be completed before the new soccer season started on August 31.
“First and foremost, contrary to many stories going round that we will not be playing our home games at Solwezi stadium, we confirm that we will be playing our super league games here and all these works happening here are aiming at improving the stadium or confining ourselves to the super league standard requirements”,
“We expect the project to be completed before the season starts except for the dressing rooms. We will be using the old dressing rooms for now which are usable and we have managed to improve on the ventilation for the same,” reads the statement in part
Meanwhile the club has appealed to Solwezi residents to guard the stadium jealously.
“Let’s not just think about ourselves, let’s also think about our children and their children because this project has cost huge amounts so let’s guard the stadium jealously and take care of it. We also take this opportunity to thank Kansanshi Mine PLC for coming to our aid,” the statement says
Kansanshi will a second side from North Western Province to play in the super league after their fellow mine sponsored side Lumwana Radiants.
The Kansanshi Mine sponsored side would however have to play five of their first games away from home due to sanctions from the FAZ for crowd trouble.
