A VULGAR Lusaka couple has been divorced in the Boma Local Court without compensation.
Sunday Tembo, 48 of Misisi Township sued his wife Naomi Muntapula, 46 of the same compound for divorce
Tembo told magistrate Ng’andu Mukuka sitting with Martha Tembo that the two got married in 2004 and have one child but their problems started in 2005.
“When we got married she joined the association that I was part of and I gave her part of the goods I was selling to start a business, but the problem we have is she does not respect me and she insults me,
“She even beats me and when we argue she takes the issue to the shop and people even surround her as she tells the story,” Tembo said
He explained that they sat down on several occasions to try and bring peace on their marriage but all had been in vain.
“She doesn’t change, she even chase’s me out of the house and would come and beg me go back home after some days. Her children from her first marriage insult me and tell me that it is not my house, I should leave, I even started sleeping in my shop for two weeks without beddings,
“When my child came to visit she would make her work like a maid and her children would stop working. My relatives don’t even visit us because she does not want them but I stay with her children,” said Tembo”.
In defence Muntapula told the court that Tembo was a drunk.
She told the court that Tembo had never given her money since they got married.
“We trouble each other over our child because he never bought her nappies or even paid for her education she is now in grade 9. I am his fifth wife, he just eats women’s money, said Muntapula,”
Magistrate Mukuka said there was no respect in their marriage which was full of insults.
“There is no love in this marriage, divorce has been granted. No one will compensate the other, the mother will have custody of the child and you will maintain her with K350 monthly,” Magistrate Mukuka said
