Zambia national women soccer team midfielder Agness Musesa’s run at the ongoing COSAFA senior tournament has come to an abrupt end after she picked up an injury in Sunday’s game against Namibia.
Musesa injured herself after falling and landing on her elbow which resulted in her being substituted.
Team doctor Faith Chibeza confirmed the development to the Sun Sport, saying the player had a bad fall after she landed on her elbow which got dislocated.
Chibeza said the injury had ruled the player out the tournament because medics could not ascertain the seriousness of the injury in the seven days that had remained to be played.
She said that her medical team had managed to look at the dislocated elbow and reduced the seriousness of the injury but could only ascertain the extent of the damaged tissues after six days.
She said that it was unfortunate that the player could not play any of the remaining games in the tournament.
”So Agness Musesa had a bad fall during the game that we played against Namibia, she landed on her elbow and it dislocated” she said
Shepolopolo takes on Botswana today in their last group game of the tournament .
Team coach, Beauty Mwamba has declared her charges ready for the encounter.
Mwamba said the game was of importance to his team because it needed to win and top the group at all costs.
