THE Choma Juveniles Court has ordered that a 14-year-old boy to be put under probation for 12 months and undergo counseling for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
This is in a case the juvenile defiler of Choma’s Chandamali Compound admitted having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 13 years old girl on June 17 contrary to section 138 Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws Zambia.
When the matter came up for facts and presentation of social welfare report before court, probation officer Ruth Chanda said that according to the juvenile offender the defiled girl was his girlfriend.
And on the night of the incident he was called by the girl around 22,00hrs to her house where they had sex up to 23.00hrs.
Chanda said the boy who lives with his grandmother was not in school and there has been negligence on the part of the parents, and in order to help the juvenile be reintegrated into society, she recommended that he be discharged and together with the girl should undergo counseling.
In mitigation the Juvenile offender asked for lenience and promised to go to the village where his mother was so he could help her and try to get enrolled into school again.
Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri in sentencing the juvenile order that he should undergo counseling under the watchful eye of the social welfare department.
