FOR impregnating an 18-year-old Grade 12 pupil a 25-year-old man of Chelstone will pay her parents K6,000 compensation.
The Chelstone Local Court ordered the man for compensate the girl’s family for impregnating girl her and disturbing her education.
Presiding magistrate Mary Namangala sitting with Presiding magistrate Kennedy Mwansa Mutale heard the matter.
Warren Kamfwa, 25, was sued by Sampemba Emmanuel, 56, of Ngombe for compensation for putting his daughter in the family way.
“He impregnated my daughter who is in her 12th grade and she stopped school. So I want the court to help me because even when I call him he does not pick up my calls. I want him to give me K10,000 as damage,’’ Sampemba said.
Ades Sampemba said she used to meet her boyfriend, Kamfwa, at his friend’s house and at times at his par-ents’ house.
“I am in grade 12 and am five months pregnant. For this reason I feel lazy going to school every day,” she said.
In defence, Kamfwa said he had not refused to pay the money. It was only that he was not working.
Upon hearing from both parties the court discovered that Sampemba’s daughter had contributed to the prob-lem.
It ordered Kamfwa to pay K6,000 with K1,000 first instalment at August month end and K350 thereafter monthly.
