Nkwazi geared for new soccer season

LISWANI SANG’ANDU writes

SUPER league Nkwazi Football FC that finished 5th last season in stream B, is working hard to put its house in order before the start the start of the 2019/20 soccer season starting next month.

Head coach Chris Kaunda said the club still had to turn around things in the coming season.

He said the decision by FAZ to introduce two streams to ensure that clubs transitioned from stream B to A was something they could not avoid because there was need for them to suit the international standards.

Kaunda also said that the team coming close to qualifying for CAF was a sign that it worked hard and would still continue to work even harder in the coming assignments.

When asked if there were any new signees, Kaunda said the club did not buy players but rather depended on its sister clubs like Red Arrows and Green Buffaloes.

Kaunda said he considered all teams big because there was nothing like a small team in football.

He said like a Bemba proverb which says “Akana kansoka takalala munshila” meaning when you find a baby snake on the pathway kill it,because it is a snake there is nothing like it is a baby snake andlet it go.

And one of the team’s senior players Chris Zulu said Nkwazi was prepared and coaches had been putting in more effort to ensure that they are well prepared for the next season.

He said the team’s aim was to win and despite missing out on CAF qualifications, Nkwazi did its best and at the end of the day it was a game of football.

Coach Kaunda also said the club needed total support from every fan who loved the team as it looked forward to a better new soccer season.
