POLICE in Chongwe have arrested a 39-year-old man for defiling his one year 11 months old granddaughter.
Police spokesperson Ester Mwata Katongo confirmed the incident that happened on Thursday, July 18 in Libuko village when the mother of the victim left the child in the care of its grandfather.
On returning she found the child crying and after checking her, she found semen on her thighs.
“Police in Chongwe District received a report of defilement from the mother of the victim aged 18 years of Libuko village that her one year 11 months female child was allegedly defiled by her grandfather aged 39 years of Libuko village,
“This is reported to have occurred on Thursday 18th July 2019 at about 17:00 hours. The complainant alleges that she left her daughter with her grandfather, and on her return, she found her daughter crying and when she checked the baby, she discovered semen on the victim’s thighs,” said Ms. Katongo.
Ms. Katongo said a medical report was issued to the victim’s mother while the suspect is detained in police custody.
