ZANACO midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike’s planned move to Zesco United has hita snag following the two teams’ delay in reaching consensus as the deadline for

The 30-year-old Zimbabwean was keen on a move away from Sunset Stadium despite having a running contract with the Bankers.

Zesco reportedly wrote to Zanaco who responded to their letter quoting their own price.

The Bankers are believed to have asked for a figure close to US$65,000.

Zanaco general manager Marlon Kananda said the transitional league champions had officially approached his team with a request to get Rusike.

Kananda, however, said the two teams had not yet reached a consensus on the deal.

He said his club was willing to let the player go provided Zesco or any other club satisfied their conditions.

Kananda said it was never Zanaco’s policy to stand in the way of their players who opted out.

“Zesco had written to us officially about the player, and we are willing to let him go because as a club we don’t believe in standing in the way of players.

“We are yet to reach a consensus with Zesco who happen to be the only team that have approached us over the player,” Kananda said.

He said the status quo was that Rusike was still a Zanaco player and currently in Chipata on training with the team.

Speculation at the Bankers indicated that Rusike was not on the initial list for continental football.

The midfielder’s jersey number eight was handed to newly signed Kiala Lassa as Zanaco had anticipated the move being finalised much early.

Should the two sides fail to complete the deal before the CAF late registration deadline, which closes on July 31, Zanaco will have to register the player with a different number.

The first phase of the CAF registration closed on July 10 and from July 11 to 20 the late registration would attract a fee of US$250 per player.

From July 21 to July 31 it will attract a fine of US$500.
