RISING DIVORCE CASES A MAJOR CONCERN

A RISE in number of divorce cases reported in our local court is a red flag for our society.

About 20 couples in a day are divorced from different local courts, some on frivolous grounds such as failure to cut each other’s’ pubic hair.

Most cases in which most marriages are dissolved over, do not even qualify for divorce.

Our Zambian culture is based on preserving families and tradition So we should not forget our culture and let these families be separated without giving the couple enough time to work out their problems.

Why not give them proper solutions? Children involved suffer more emotionally and psychologically.

I agree with people suggesting that local courts should be abolished or cleaned up, because they are doing more harm than good when it comes to divorce cases.

More divorce cases in our society means, high level of poverty and illicit behaviour which leads to high levels of crimes.
