A COUPLE has been divorced at the Matero local court with no compensation because both parties contributed to the problems in their home which included sexless life.
This is in a case in which Sylvia Mulenga,33 of Lilanda sued her husband Brian Mutwankane,40, of Twikatane for divorce.
The two got married in 2005 and have two children but have been on separation since April 2018.
Mulenga told Magistrate Pauline Newa that they lived well for a while but later Mutwankane became violent.
“In 2016 he hit me with a metal rod and I was admitted at UTH, I went to my mother’s and lived there for four months, he came to get me and we reconciled. Our problems continued and he was drinking recklessly,
“He insults me and he stopped having sex with me, we separated for four months and he usually threatens to kill me and ever since I left he does not support me and the children,” said Mulenga
Mutwankane told the Court that Mulenga had no respect for him.
“We used to live well until she went to look for a job without telling me, and she has no respect. She breaks things in the house and we had a family meeting that’s when she said that our marriage has ended but I still want her as my wife,” said Mutwankane
He said his wife denied him sex for a year and some months.
The court dissolved the marriage without compensation but ordered Mutwankane to support the children with K300 monthly contribution.
