Solwezi journalists get expo challenge

GLORIA KANGWA writes

JOURNALISTS should be part of the North-West Expo preparations slated for August 2019 in Solwezi, says North-Western provincial minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu.

Mr Mubukwanu said it was important that journalists became part and parcel of the preparations because the first ever Expo would benefit them workwise.

Speaking to journalists during a meeting held at the provincial administration office, Mr Mubukwanu said with the theme of the Expo being “unveiling the hidden treasures”, Journalists would benefit a lot from the Expo.

“It is key that you as our main stakeholders in the dissemination of news are part of the North West Expo because we need to not only show people who will be part of the Expo but also with the nation at large for you are very essential,

“We have a lot to showcase and have an increased number of investors in the province, we have to unveil the mining, tourism, agriculture sectors and in turn have value addition”, he said

Mr Mubukwanu told journalists that they had to be in contact with the Expo for information so as to report well on all the fundamentals that would make the future of province attainable.

The provincial minister said apart from the province being connected to the rest of Zambia, it was also important that for the hidden treasures be unveiled.

“The Expo which is coming to our province for the first time to run from August 18th to 24 will add us to the list of provinces that have had Expos but note that no one is in competition except making the significance of their province”, said Mr Mubukwanu.

And North West Expo coordinator Christopher Bwalya told journalists that the Expo was for everyone in the province without considering what level of operations a person was but involvement was essential.

“There is need for all media houses to participate in the Expo because this is our Expo, I would like to appeal that you own the process and try to maintain a good relationship with the Expo committee for the right information to be disseminated”, Mr Bwalya said.
