The unemployed young people in Zambia should take up load shedding as a business opportunity, says Youths of Substance Forum (YSF) national coordinator Rudolf Mwanza.
Mr Mwanza said there was need for youths to take up load shedding as a business opportunity as half the population of the people in Zambia did their works using gadgets which relied on power.
Mr Mwanza said youths should take advantage of the looming load shedding as recently announced by the power utility (ZESCO) to make money.
“Today half the population of our country does their works using gadgets which rely on power and looking at the current challenge it is a major frustrations.
“Like they say, to every bad situation comes a good thing, I would love to urge youths to come up with ideas which will work to their advantage with the current power challenge,
“Youths can come up with a lot of ideas among them could be ordering pre-recharged power banks and sell them to customers,” Mr Mwanza said.
Moreover, he said, the demand for generators was very high therefore youths could approach consumers and businesses and offer them a daily service by offering generators.
He said youths with viable businesses should appeal to the frustrated citizens and encourage them to express it healthier by using their services.
He further said youths who owned restaurants and meal catering services could also be marketing directly to consumers in their areas by informing them of their services during load shedding hours.
