A 47 -YEAR-OLD man of Isoka in Muchinga Province has committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree after he was ordered to pay two goats for allegedly having sex with a she goat.
Muchinga Province deputy commissioner of police James Masiye named the man as Loti Siame of Sansamwenje Village in Chief Kafwimbi’s area.
Mr Masiye said Siame was earlier found by villagers red handed having sex with a goat and was later reported to the village court.
The court ordered him to pay two goats for the offence he committed.
“Police received a report of suicide in which male Loti Siame of Sansamwenje Village in Chief Kafwimbi’s area of Isoka committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree using a rope after he was found having sex with a goat,” Mr Masiye said.
He said Siame decided to take his own life after Sansamwenje Village headman ordered him to pay two goats after he was found guilty of bestiality.
“The dates on which the deceased is alleged to have committed bestiality with a goat are not known because the case was dealt with at village level and was not reported to police,” Mr Masiye said.
He said Siame was on unknown dates found having canal knowledge of a she goat, the property of Bowas Sichula of the same village by villagers near the complainant’s house.
Mr Masiye said Siame then went missing and was only found hanging to a tree in the bush in a composed state about 2km from his home.
He said both police and relatives suspected no foul play and the body has since been buried.
