SOME road users have appealed to the relevant authority to make a lay by at Lusaka’s Buseko Market where timber sellers can offload their commodity without disturbing the flow of traffic.
This is because currently heavy duty trucks parked along Lumumba Road to off load timber thereby blocking one lane and causing a heavy traffic jam, especially on busy hours.
Some motorists told the Sun that this trend was now getting out of hand.
“We thank government that they have reconstructed the road and its now in good state, but the challenge we face is that, when these trucks come to offload timber,
“They block one lane thereby forcing us to use one lane which is unsafe and cause too much congestion which later disturbs our business,”they said.
Other motorists who also refused to be named said that apart from offloading timber by the road side, even those loading finished products like beds, dining tables, cupboards and other furniture also causes congestion because the place was too small.
“We are not only disturbed by those trucks that offload timber, but even those that load finished products such as beds, cupboards, dining tables and many more,” they said
Some timber owners also complained that there was no space inside the market where a truck could offload from.
“That’s why they just park the trucks outside and start offloading from road side,” they said
