Robbers attack white Mazabuka farmer

OWNER of Mazabuka’s Squares Ranch, Anderson Clyde, 80 is nursing injuries after he was attacked by two armed robbers yesterday at his ranch.

Zambia public relations officer Esther Katongo confirmed the incident which she said happened around 22:00 hours.

Ms Katongo in a statement, said one of the robbers was was armed with a shot gun while his colleague had an iron bar which was used to hit the victim on his head, right arm and leg.

Mr Clyde sustained deep cuts on the head and bruises on the right arm and leg and was rushed to nearby Victoria Hospital for medical attention.

The criminals who gained entry to the Ranch by breaking the main door demanded for money and went away with a brief case which contained K10, 000.

Investigations by police have since been instituted.

In another development, police in Mazabuka are looking for Wise Malambo aged between38 and 40 in connection with the murder of Abbyshy Kandyata aged 57 of Mwanamoonga Village, chief Mwenda of Chikankata District, and also a resident of Mandevu compound in Lusaka.

According to the victim’s young brother, Mr Kandyata was in Makanda village, Chief Naluama visiting his fiancée to finalize their marriage arrangements when he met his fate.

As the victim was at the fiancée’s house where he was to spend a night, her ex-boyfriend went to the house armed with an unknown object and severely beat both Mr Kandyata and his fiancée who sustained severe head injuries.

Mr Kandyata was pronounced dead on arrival at Mazabuka General Hospital while the condition of his fiancée has been described as stable and has since been discharged from hospital.

Police have launched a manhunt for the assailant who is on the run.
