OVER 200 young hockey players at the weekend converged at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) to participate in the ongoing Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
Teulings Hockey Coordinator Evans Bwalya told the Sun in an interview that the participation of girls in the youthful league games had continued to increase.
Bwalya said that some of the teams which took part for both girls and boys competitions were DE Stars, Zambezi, Hotspurs, Springfields, Lusaka Sharks, and Tigers.
He said that the Zambezi girls team had seen great improvement with numbers and good performance on the pitch. According to OYDC communications officer Noah Silomba, participants in the Tuelings tournament also took time to attend a session of Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) conducted by Richard Mulenga, OYDC Young Leaders Coordinator.
He said that the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge for 2019 which started at the beginning of April will come to a close in October, when a grand finale will be hosted where top deserving athletes, umpires, coaches and teams will be rewarded with trophies and medals.
