ZAMBIA’S flag bearers in the CAF confederations Cup Nkana are this afternoon set to defend their 43 year unbeaten when they take on Tunisian giants Club Sportif sfaxien.
The 12 time Zambian league champions will be looking to home ground advantage when the take on the Tunisian side, having been victorious in all its home games in year’s campaign.
Nkana are set to make history by becoming the first Zambian side to reach the semi- finals of the competition after their local rivals ZESCO United were eliminated at the same stage of the 2017 edition by Super Sport United of South Africa.
However Nkana has been hit by injuries of some of its key players in midfielder Harrison Chisala who has been sidelined and ruled out while striker Walter Bwalya returned to light training having recently picked a knock.
The team has a sigh of relief in that its defence is intact having Ben Adama Bah, Musa Mohamed and Duncan Otieno all available in the line-up.
The Kitwe giants go into this game at a backdrop of a domestic league loss against relegation threatened Lumwana Radiants as well as a worrisome away record in the competition having gone winless so far with their last defeat of 1-4 away loss against Al Hillal in Sudan.
Nkana’s last game against sfaxien was a one-nil win in 1999 edition of the CAF cup winners Cup.
Nkana last faced a Tunisian side in the 2014 edition of the Confederation Cup when they beat Etoile Du Sahel to qualify to the group stage of the competition.
