Mr. Bweenje said Monze residents will now incur less expenses for approval of plan’s as they will no longer be travelling to Choma for approval.

He said that Monze district will be set for social economic development once the council is conferred with planning authority status and that the council will have meaning input in the district’s development agenda.

He stated that the council will soon recommend to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) to be considered for the planning authority status, as per requirement under the Urban and Regional Planning Act.

The act entails that local authorities which meet the set benchmarks could be considered for elevation to planning authority status.
