AS FAR as the world of rap goes, everyone who can spit some bars considers themselves the best and so is the story of Kanizi, a young rapper on the scene and the industry should definitely watch out for this young man.
“Not even a million red lights can stop me now,” he says.
It is believed Kanizi is the best freshman in the game right now.
“I want to spit gold policies to the world unknown and our generation,” he says in an interview with the Sun.
Rodney Kanizi also known as CHILU and professionally known as KANIZI, is an independent Zambian rapper, Producer and songwriter.
He embarked on his musical career as a kid in 2004 when he discovered he could write some lyrics.
Under the name Kanizi, released his first official single titled “RIDE WITH ME” on February 28th 2016,the song garnered local attention and led to his association with some big names in the local industry and soon began to gain major recognition.
Prior to ‘Ride With Me’, he has been writing since 2004 but never really had proper recording sessions.
He used to freestyle and record on the phone with his homeboys in the bedroom until 2014 when he began exposing himself to studios nearby, Kanizi has been active ever since.
In 2014 he went on to freestyle at a POWER FM rap battle then hosted by the late DJ SHYN and he came out number 2. The following year, Kanizi appeared in a hood cypher and continued working on his craft. After “Ride with Me” and “Blesser” he gained a large Internet following, thousands of downloads and collaborated with
several prominent big names in the industry. At an early age Kanizi liked Tupac and 50cent, like everyone else did.
Early in his life and career he was inspired by his uncle, Natoo Jr and later on, Bob Marley, 2pac, Nas, Rakim, Eminem & Michael Jackson.
Kaniz was and bread in Lusaka, Zambia. As a teenager, he attended David Kaunda Technical High school where he was a straight (B+) student and he now studies his Bachelors of Information and Technology at the University of Lusaka.
He has also worked with some of the very big names in the music industry such as Stevo Rap Guru on the record “CHIBANDA!!!” And K.R.Y.T.I.C on the newest song titled “NO PRESSURE”.
