A LUSAKA man has been killed in an unclear circumstances that have shocked family and friends, as his body, with a partially crushed head, was only discovered in the early hours of yesterday by women going for orders.

Lusaka-based photographer, Alex Siulapwa, aged 35 years, is believed to have been  murdered and his body dumped 30 metres from his house by unknown people, who got away with his cameras.

Both Alex’s older brother, Yoram, and his close friend, Keegan Simukoko, have confirmed his death to the Sun newspaper.

Yoram who was on his way from Mongu to Lusaka told the Sun in a telephone interview that he was devastated by his brother’s death.

“Yes my brother Alex was murdered and the funeral gathering is at my place in Lusaka. It’s really devastating.

“I am on my way back home from Mongu but what I was told is he was murdered and dumped near his house,” Yoram said.

And according to Alex’s close friend who was found at the funeral house in Lusaka’s Kabanana Township, the assailants might have hit Alex with a sharp object on the head as his ear was ripped.

An emotional Mr Simukoko who is neighbor to the deceased explained that his friend was found dead early by women who were going to the market for business.

“Some people just came to my place early in the morning to tell me that your friend  (Alex) has been killed and I didn’t believe them at first because we were together the previous day  before he went to Levy Mall to shoot a wedding ceremony.

“When I reached at the scene which is about 30 metres from his house, I cried uncontrollably upon seeing my friend laying in a pool of blood lifeless. We reported the matter to police,  at the scene, we found his phones, wallet, but his two cameras and definitely undisclosed money was taken away from him by his murderers,” said Mr Simukoko.

Mr Simukoko added, “It appears the attacker hit him with a sharp object in the head because his ear is ripped and the other side of his head is smashed,” he said.

He explained that according to the groom of the wedding he was shooting, Alex was dropped off near the former Stanley Bar to get a cab or board a minibus.

He said from there, nobody knows how Alex moved but was found dead near his house.

He said the body of Alex was deposited in UTH mortuary waiting postmortem.

Efforts to get a comment from the Police spokesperson proved futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.
