Makeni Villa ‘Junkies’ beat up driver, conductor

CRIMINALS, commonly known as ‘Junkies’ presently terrorising Lusaka’s Makeni Villa Park area, have beaten up a mini bus driver and his conductor for refusing to pay them.

But the assaulted driver, Nelson Nkole, told the Sun there was no point in paying the junkies for doing nothing.

“What am I paying them for when passengers decide which bus to board?” he asked.

He vowed he would never pay lazy bones for doing nothing, adding that the fight those criminals had started was far from over as he was preparing to hit back soon with back up he had arranged,” Nkole said.

A witness John Phiri who stopped the fight said rules set by junkies for bus drivers were that if any driver loaded from the area he was supposed to pay K18 or he would not be allowed to live peacefully.

Other witnesses at the scene explained to the Sun that the beaten bus driver and his conductor were new to the Makeni Villa Park route and didn’t know how these Junkies operated.

“Here these Junkies have made it a rule that if you get people from the area t you have to pay K18 or they will beat you, so this driver with his conductor didn’t know the rules that’s why they have been beaten,” said one of the witnesses.
