FAZ clarifies Drill and Blast demotion

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has clarify that the demotion of the  division three team, Drill and Blast Football Club, was done because it failed to comply with the regulation to register players.

FAZ communications manager, Mwazi Chanda, told The Sun that the failure by the Drill and Blast FC president, Wisdom Shaibu, to register his players with the association was an abrogation of the FAZ Constitution and general rules.

Chanda observed that the complaints by Shaibu, that his team was unfairly demoted, was not valid because he had failed to comply by the player registration requirement.

She said the decision by the association is merely because Shaibu had not taken any measures to regulate the team membership or follow the advice given.

Chanda also said that the FAZ is in the process of re-aligning the Super Division league to conform to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA directive.

She stated that, ”Under the new structure provincial leagues have been divided into divisions one, two, three and four.”

The re-aligned transitional season is expected to run from January to July 2019.

For a team must meet club licensing criteria to qualify to play in the National Division One League, or their place will be given to the next team which meets the set criteria on the standings.

Recently, FAZ held the North Western Provincial meeting at which the Drill and Blast team was relegated based on their inability to meet 2018 fixtures.

Sakala has since advised FAZ members to follow administrative procedures to address any matters of concern.
