Call-boys behaviour worrisome

BUUMBA CHIMBULU writes

BUS commuters in Lusaka’s Matero Township have complained of being harassed by call-boys found at stations.

Mwamba Mwamba, a bus commuter told the Sun yesterday that he had been searched by co-boys while they were fighting for him to get on different buses.

Co-boys are paid K1 for each passenger they organised for bus conductors and drivers.

Mr Mwamba complained that bus stations were currently not guaranteeing safety anymore.

He accused some of the co-boys of being thieves.

“Some of these co-boys are thieves, just last week they searched K200 from my pocket while they were fighting for me,” Mr Mwamba said.

And another commuter, Maureen Kampa, called on relevant authorities to intervene in the situation.

Ms Kampa said, “I have slapped one of these boys before. They are annoying and would make you to move with a panga.”

She said this situation was the same with other bus stations across Lusaka.
